One Pager for The Energy Case

The Energy Case is an action-adventure, third-person shooter with an immersive mystery.

Our story is based on old detective noir films. It strives to convey the message that “pollution is making our lives worse and we need to transition energy sources”. Our story will have at least two possible endings, each influenced by the player’s choices, which will be made clear to the player. Some choices in the game will pollute more and some will be greener, the pollution levels will lead to the different endings.

You play detective Dominic “Dec” Decker, an ant and private detective, who works with the police from time to time. You live in Deeprun, a city inhabited by robot insects. Doctor Antward Formic, the lead scientist on the Energy Transition Project, was shot earlier that day at the Expo Hall. The detective gets called by Phila Beelinski as the police do not seem to care. The killers seem to now be after Phila, wanting to kill her along with any hope of the project succeeding.

The goal of the game is to spread awareness about the energy transition towards greener energy, in a way that brings hope to the player, and to provide an enjoyable experience. The game is aimed at Dutch students. When talking and testing with this target audience, people seemed interested, with one tester asking to be informed of the game’s release, wanting to play it for themselves.
